Magnificent surroundings and turn of the century charm. It’s easy to be impressed.

The park consists in large part of manicured lawns, as well as many beautiful trees and bushes. Several of the trees that were planted in the 1800s are still standing. The park’s founder, Carl Fredrik Waern, received international acclaim for his vision, and for the transformation of his masterpiece into reality. One of his innovative ideas was to regard agricultural land as part of the park. There are plenty of paths to explore in the grounds as well as a shoreline walk that stretches about 7 km around the peninsula, with some lovely bathing areas, and two popular artificial islets – Parasollholmen and Lindholmen. The herb garden and vegetable plot supply the adjacent restaurant with produce that couldn’t be more locally grown.

The park is always open for visitors. There are public toilets, and plenty of  parking for both cars and coaches. The café, open during summer, serves refreshments and you’ll find lots of lovely spots to eat your own picnic. There’s a play area and a craft shop in the grounds. Dogs on leads are welcome.
