A GARDEN FOR THE SENSES IN MARSTRAND

Sit under the pergola, on the kissing bench round the beech tree, or on the grass. Enjoy the trickle of the water in the waterfall and the fountain. Listen to the twittering of the birds. It feels good to be here.

Step into another world

When the popular quayside is at its noisiest and busiest you can step through the gap in the fence and enter a whole different world. Peace, quiet and opportunities for reflection reign here. Enjoy the scents from the herb garden, stroll around the borders with plants native to Bohuslän, or just sit and take in all the beauty. Children are welcome to play with the animals in Noah’s Ark. At night enjoy the shadow play in the beech tree’s knotty trunk and the other lighting in the garden. The park is always open, but please be aware that the space belongs to the Parish Hall which is sometimes used for memorial services, christenings or other gatherings. In August (when Marstrand holds its ‘Turn of the Century’ weekend) we open our popular soup kitchen. There are some lovely spots to eat your own picnic in the garden but if you’re lucky younger members of the church will have opened their summer café.

The entrance is on Hospitalsgatan 8. There’s another entrance suitable for wheelchairs and prams on Kyrkogatan around the corner. Get to the island of Marstrand by ferry. Parking is on Koön. The guest toilet is open when the Parish Hall is. Dogs on leads are welcome.
