Gräfsnäs Castle Park – a place dating back to the middle of the 1500s.

The park has a long and interesting history spanning several different eras. A stately castle once stood here, as well as a magnificent baroque park and classic English park. Several of the existing ditches, moats and alleys are remains of the former defence fortifications and park and gardens. Today careful efforts are made to preserve the historic park while still providing a space for local cultural and outdoor activities. The park is full of lovely green spaces used for all sorts of activities, including swimming, sunbathing and picnics. In one part of the grounds Bjärke Local History Society has amassed a collection of 18th-19th century building that they take people round. In spring the masses of beautiful anemones attract many visitors and in summer events, markets and performances are held in the park.

You can choose to travel to the park by train on the Anten-Gräfsnäs Heritage Railway or by car. The castle park is accessible, as is the restaurant and café, but not the actual castle ruins themselves. There’s a play area and toilet in the grounds. Dogs are permitted. Plenty of parking.
