A herb garden established in memory of Johannes Henriksson – one of Sweden’s foremost authorities on medicinal plants.

Stroll around the beds filled with hundreds of plants, all useful in some way, or with an interesting history. There are plants used for spices and medicines, dyeing and textiles, witchcraft and sorcery, as well as old fashioned heritage varieties. All the plants are clearly identified. Interesting water plants are found around the large pond and the two streams. There’s also a beehive, and a geological display.  The area is prettily situated on the slopes of Kroppefjäll. The town of Dals Rostock was formerly a health spa, and the herb garden is located in Brunnsparken, where visitors used to ‘take the waters’.

There’s also a Heritage Centre, a summer cafe, a Textile Museum and an artist’s studio with a shop. Next to the studio there’s a lovely glasshouse, and a little orangery with exhibitions during the summer. Seasonal plant sales. The site has been adapted for accessibility and there are disabled toilets. Dogs on leads are welcome. There’s lots of space to eat your own picnic and plenty of parking. The herb garden is open all day every day from May-September. See the website for opening times of the museum, artist’s studio and shop.
