Small scale, easy to understand and organic

It’s our ambition is to build a healthy soil environment, through long term planning and a rule never to use chemical pesticides. At the same time Kosters Gardens wants to inspire you to grow your own. Vegetables are cultivated here in a bed system using a nine year crop rotation. Work on the vegetable plot covers everything from sowing to harvesting. There’s also a little forest garden where many species are interplanted in a small area. Sheep, hens, bees, frogs, cats and a dog share the space with us. The excavated pond collects both surface and ground water and functions as a habitat for frogs. In the winter it’s used for skating. An excellent example of permaculture in practice.

There’s lots to do here. You can shop in the bakery or eat something tasty in the restaurant, which of course uses produce from our own garden. Exhibition openings are held in the greenhouse. The two farm shops sell everything from freshly harvested greens, jam, lovely oils, vinegar, herb salt, eggs and newly baked bread to literature, garden equipment, seeds, ceramics, hammocks and other nice things for the garden.

There are customer toilets, and dogs on leads are welcome. If you’re interested in having a guided tour get in touch.
