Strömstad is blessed with a fantastic park – unique in terms of both aesthetics and botanical value. Come and explore these fascinating gardens.
A treasure trove in the middle of a beautiful valley
This large five acre natural park has plenty to enjoy. An asphalt road leads through it and off to the side wind nature trails where hundreds of azaleas, rhododendron and magnolias wrestle for your attention, alongside different varieties of exotic trees. There are also maple, alder and birch trees in the park, planted back in the 19th century.
Birdlife is plentiful as there is a stream running through the park feeding into a pond, surrounded by fantastic greenery. From the little bridge in the lower part of the park you’ll get a wonderful view in all directions. The park is well used by all ages. This green oasis is perfect both for anyone wanting a moment of relaxation as well as those whose interest is more horticultural. The flowering period stretches from April to the end of summer, but even autumn has its charm here, with fantastic colours and crisp fresh air. [Guided walks around the park can be booked through the Tekniska avdelningen, Strömstad Municipality]
Parts of the park are accessible for rollators/wheelchairs/pushchairs. Dogs on leads are welcome. There are lots of picnic spots, either on the available tables and benches or on a blanket wherever you find a suitable place on the grass.
Strömsdalen is a ten minute walk from Strömstad’s central station. There is limited parking next to the park.
