Tunhhems Gardens –the always changing flower nursery

The nursery is in a beautiful setting in rolling countryside on the slopes of Mosseberg plateau mountain, with Lake Hornborga shimmering behind the forest. It’s run by Sanna and her husband Calle, who grow tulips all spring, then water and feed during summer ready for an explosion of dahlias and summer flowers from August until the first frost.
Seasonal growing has become as much rest and inspiration as hard work and making ideas a reality. Their backgrounds as musician and designer permeates everything they do. One of the gardens is full of meandering garden walls, ponds, perennials and unusual trees (closed to visitors in 2023 however) while the flower nursery is a mixture of straight rows and flowing inspiration. There’s a large greenhouse which occasionally houses a pop-up shop, courses and space for guest artists.

Everything is grown here according to the slow flower model, in other words grown with love and a lot of consideration for the environment. The flowers are fresher and bouquets last longer. And the greater the variation in what’s grown the more animals, birds and insects come to visit. Biodiversity at its best.

You’re very welcome to wander around the beds and pick your own bouquet of whatever is looking best and most beautiful right then. Or just have a seat on a bench and enjoy the view. In 2023 the focus is primarily on tulips in May and summer blooms in September. Don’t miss the popular flower bulb pop-up in October!

The nursery has some slight inclines and narrow paths between the beds. Dogs on leads are welcome. There is a car park but no guest toilet.
