Unique, green oases along a lovely round walk by the Säveån River in central Lerum
The creation of eleven garden rooms is the result of a collaboration between selected garden designers and working groups of volunteers from Lerum. Växtrum is a way of visualising the concept of sustainability, inspiring and inviting residents, visitors and businesses to participate in working to create a sustainable society. In 2018 Växtrum won first prize for “Built Environment of the Year” in Dagens Samhälle’s national competition. The newest garden is called Kraftfältet - meaning Forcefield - and it’s based on plants that thrive in sandy soil. It’s right above the train tunnel by Lerum’s station, and provides a colourful entrance to the town centre.
Visitors are welcome all summer. You can either explore by yourselves or go on an arranged guided tour. All garden rooms are accessible. Recommended starting point is Aludden Providore restaurant, on Aspenäsvägen 12, Lerum. You’ll find an information stand with free leaflets and maps. An alternative starting point is the Council Municipal Building, Komln, in Bagges Torg in central Lerum. See lerum.se for opening times. Dogs on leads are welcome.
