From a French baroque garden to nursery and ornamental garden
Råda Säteri’s garden history is long and eventful. Over the centuries the garden has been changed according to interest, need and the ideals of the time. During the latter part of the 1800s there were large vegetable, fruit and flower beds. The harvest was sold at market in Gothenburg. It was run as a farm until 1975, after which there was a period of slumber until the garden was revived and it now boasts both a kitchen and an ornamental garden. The estate buzzes with life and creativity. Bees dance in front of the hives, there are small independent boutiques with various craft and design objects, lovely places to have a fika and for anyone with a spring in their step plenty of space to play and mess around. There’s also a little beach with a diving tower for swimmers. The borders have been created by well-known garden designers, and are outstanding. PYO cut flowers are offered outside the Gula villa. Go for a walk on the Labbera peninsula, a lovely trail leads there and you’ll find lots of pretty spots to eat your picnic. There’s a busy events programme, with everything from theatre shows to tastings and flower arranging. For the current programme, go to the website.
Garden tours are arranged and guiding is offered in Swedish, English and French. There is plenty of parking for both cars and coaches. Dogs on leads are welcome. There is a toilet for visitors.
